The clarifying bar for skin that acts up, without the harshness that makes it act up more.

What it is
The clarifying member of our heritage castile soap family: the gentle extra virgin olive oil base, sharpened with tea tree, deepened with neem leaf, one of the most revered skin botanicals in the world, and calmed with lavender. A facial soap first, made for skin that runs oily or blemish-prone, and gentle enough to use morning and night. Like its siblings, it covers the body and even works as a shampoo bar.

Who it's for
Blemish-prone and combination skin at any age, including the hormonal kind that shows up decades after you thought you were done with it. Most clarifying washes scrub and strip; this one cleans gently and lets the botanicals do the clarifying.

Why this works, concern by concern
Clear-looking skin is mostly housekeeping: keep buildup in check, keep texture refined, and keep the skin calm enough to behave.

To Keep Skin Clear

The problem: oil, sweat, and the day's buildup invite blemishes.

  • Tea Tree Oil clarifies with every wash and helps keep blemish-causing buildup in check.
To Refine and Balance

The problem: oily, congested skin rarely looks smooth or even.

  • Neem Leaf, a skin botanical revered for generations, clarifies and helps balance oil, supporting smooth, clear-looking, even-toned skin with every wash.
  • Neem soothes as it clarifies, which is why temperamental, blemish-prone skin tends to settle down with it rather than fight back.
To Condition

The problem: clarifying should never come at softness's expense.

  • Magnesium Bentonite Clay, the mineral in Mineral Castile, gently draws out impurities and excess oil as you wash, while its magnesium and trace minerals condition and soften skin.
And to Calm

The problem: clarifying routines often leave skin red-feeling and reactive.

  • Lavender calms skin and senses, so the clarifying work never feels harsh, and the olive oil base keeps moisture where it belongs.

What it's like to use
Sweep the wet bar between your hands and wash morning and night; the scent is herbal lavender with a clean tea tree edge. Despite the leaf in the bar, there are no fine neem particles you can feel: the bar is completely smooth. It is also low-sudsing by design: castile cleans without the foaming detergents that strip, so less suds, cleaner skin. Store the bar on a cedar soap deck between uses so it dries out and lasts for months.

Questions, answered

Will it dry out my skin like other clarifying washes?
No, and that is the point of putting tea tree and neem in a castile bar. The olive oil base cleanses without stripping, so you get the clarifying botanicals without the tight, chalky after-feel that makes skin overproduce oil in revenge.
Is it gentle enough to use every day?
Yes, morning and night. The neem works as a botanical, not a scrub: the bar is completely smooth, with no particles you can feel, and lavender keeps the whole bar calm. If your skin is extremely sensitive, start once daily and build up.
How do I pick a scent?
This is the clarifying bar for blemish-prone skin. Original is the pure unscented choice for the most sensitive faces, Citrus and Turmeric is the brightening bar, and Rosemary, Mint and Kudzu is the morning wake-up bar.
How long does one bar last?
Used on the face alone, a bar typically lasts three months or more, which puts it around $6 a month, far below most clarifying cleansers. Hannah is already on her second bar by choice, not necessity. A Cedar Soap Deck ($9) keeps it dry so it lasts its longest.
